Kacey Roehrich, BS

Kacey Roehrich is a current Master of Rehabilitation Technology Student and graduate student research assistant in the Rehabilitation Science and Technology Department at the University of Pittsburgh. She graduated from the University of Maine in 2022 with her bachelor’s in biomedical engineering and a minor in interdisciplinary disability studies. She is an aspiring rehabilitation engineer with interests in prosthesis design, seating and mobility, and adaptive equipment.

Q: Mainstream tech device you can’t live without? Why?

A: My cell phone – I use it every day to communicate with people about work activities, ongoing projects, and fun plans!

Q: What was your first cell phone?

A: An iPhone 6s.

Q: What mainstream tech device is at the top of your wish list, or, what new tech can you not get enough of? 

A: I recently upgraded my 2015 MacBook to a 2023 model, and I am still in awe at how fast it is and how many programs it can run simultaneously!

Q: If you were a mainstream tech device, what would you be, and why?

A: I would probably be a smart light bulb. Like, a smart light bulb that suddenly turns on in the middle of the night. I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with a new project idea and am kept awake thinking it through!
