MoDAT Focus Groups & Testing

February, 2024

The Mobile Device Assessment Tool (MoDAT) team conducted two focus groups at the Ocean State Independent Living Center in Warwick, RI. The first session consisted of 10 assistive technology (AT) professionals who provide services to individuals with disabilities, while the second session included seven individuals with diverse disabilities.

MoDAT usability testing is also underway. Brandon Conde participated in a usability testing session at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston, MA, with Chapin Graham, Research Assistant and Occupational Therapy Doctoral student at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI.

"It is fantastic that we can include professionals and persons with disabilities outside of the Pittsburgh region," Dr. Andrea Fairman, principal investigator for the MoDAT project, said.

"Assistive Technology services and resources can vary greatly from state to state. Our reach with this project helps to ensure that we are creating the MoDAT for a wide array of providers and persons with disabilities, regardless of where they may reside in the United States," she added.
